Examinations

At Dancing with Izzy we offer students the option to follow the graded examinations path. Miss Izzy is a BBO registered teacher and follows the BBO syllabus. To find out more about examinations please click on the button below or scroll down to read our FAQ's.

FAQ'S

1. How old do you need to be to enter an exam?

You can enter exams as young as 3years old. We tend to enter children at a slightly older age from 4/5years of age. You can also enter at an older age if you chose to start your examination path later down the line.

2. How does it all work?

The children will practice a sequence of exercises over a period of time. They will learn to master the technique, choreography and performance of these exercises. When ready they will then be entered for an exam. The exam takes place at our own studio with 1 visiting examiner. The children will go into the studio in groups of 3-4 and perform the exercises they have practiced. The examiner will mark them accordingly and grade them. Results will take a few weeks.

3. Why do you offer exams and is it compulsory?

Exams offer a variety of benefits. It promotes self confidence, ability to perform in a professional environment, self discipline, strong technical skills, and many more. We believe it is a good goal for children to work towards and achieving their grades give children a great sense of forfilment. However, exams are absolutely NOT compulsory and we offer many classes where it is not practiced or focussed on.
